By Amanda M. Cosgriff, Ph.D., BCBA & Licensed School Psychologist
After an extensive search for a psychologist, providing background information, answering seemingly endless questions, undergoing hours of testing, and waiting weeks for results, you finally receive the call to schedule your feedback meeting. During this meeting, the psychologist explains the evaluation results, outlines your child’s learning profile, and, if applicable, provides a diagnosis. You leave thinking, “We finally have an explanation—now we can move forward.”
However, over the next couple of days you may start to feel overwhelmed. Where do you begin? How do you take the next steps? If this sounds familiar, you are not alone, and I am here to help.
Psychological reports can range from just a few pages to more than 15, filled with detailed information, technical jargon, abbreviations, and numerical data. While these reports tell the story of your child’s assessment experience, they often do not clearly explain what your child actually did during the evaluation. The diagnosis may align with your expectations or come as a complete surprise. On top of that, the recommendations section may feel daunting, leaving you uncertain about where to start.
That’s where I come in. I offer personalized consultation services to guide you through the process. Whether you need help understanding the report, clarifying next steps, knowing what to share with who, how to communicate effectively with your child’s school, and/or ongoing support as you implement recommendations, I am here to assist you every step of the way.
If you have questions or need guidance, don’t hesitate to reach out—I would love to support you on this journey.
